RCIAM Federation Registry: Gateway for managing services for Research Communities

15.30 - 16.00 | Demonstration Area

+

Description

The RCIAM Federation Registry (https://federation.rciam.grnet.gr/docs/) provides a secure web interface through which service owners can manage the connection of services based on either OpenID Connect or SAML. During this demo we will show how a service owner can submit requests for registering, reconfiguring and deregistering their service independently from the authentication protocol. As an example, we will be using the NI4OS-Europe (https://ni4os.eu/) environment.

Fully Automated RDP Environment for Groups

10.30 - 11.00 | Demonstration Area

+

Description

Research groups use many development environments each with their own compute resources, OS and software requirements, thus requiring many multiple environments deployed across many servers. Keeping track of such infrastructure is laborious both for research groups but also for system administrators, considering the need to keep record of the virtual machine IP addresses, usernames, and passwords.

We present a fully automated virtual environment for research groups. We demonstrate how researchers may create, manage, provision users and access their own virtual machines without any intervention from system administrators. We also present all the required open source building blocks to achieve this, Apache Guacamole, Shibboleth IdP, RabbitMQ and Openstack combined with in-house-built extensions and new components.

Two-factor authentication - phishing-resistant and easy with simpleSAMLphp and FIDO2/WebAuthN

12.45 - 13.15 | Demonstration Area

+

Description

This demonstration first explains why FIDO2/WebAuthN is the most state-of-the-art way of doing two-factor authentication (it is phishing-resistant and does not introduce a user-disruptive workflow) and then shows how simple it is to add this to a simpleSAMLphp setup and how authentication transactions look with this module enabled.

400GE Packet Capture Demo

13.20 - 13.50 | Demonstration Area

+

Description

With the deployment of new 400Gb links, we need basic network testing and diagnostic tools. Therefore, the CESNET research team focuses on developing new monitoring tools for 400GE networks and is ready to present a 400 Gbps packet capture demo using an FPGA-based 400GE NIC card and a commodity server with two processors and PCIe gen4 interface. The demo is based on the DPDK system and shows how to efficiently design a wire-speed packet capture even at such high throughput rates. The demo will show the impact of the DPDK system on throughput for small packet lengths and indicate a solution to this problem. It has been created using a highly optimized DMA IP and the open-source NDK framework, which is available on GitHub.

Are you SANE? Research with sensitive data in the cloud

15.30 - 16.00 | Demonstration Area

+

Description

Privacy, copyright, and competition barriers limit the sharing of sensitive data for scientific purposes. We propose the Secure ANalysis Environment (SANE): a virtual, cloud based environment in which the researcher can analyse sensitive data, and yet leaves the data provider in complete control.
In this live demonstration we showcase the successful Tools-to-Data pilot that allowed humanities researchers to analyse copyright-sensitive data of the Dutch National Library, that otherwise would have remained unused.

Automatic Optical Line GSNR Validation on an Open Laboratory Setup

09.20 - 09.50 | Demonstration Area

+

Description

This presentation shows the automatic management and QoT-validation of a partially disaggregated OLS build up in a remotely controlled laboratory. The experimental setup involves a communication optical link composed by a sequence of ILAs, fiber spans and WSSs. During the presentation, a WDM comb spectrum along the OLS will be deployed and optimized automatically. The last step consists in the deployment of modulated optical channels defining the modulation format by means of GNPy software tool acting as the digital twin.

How an HPC-driven Datalake supports Malware Analysis System for CSIRT Teams

09.55 - 10.25 | Demonstration Area

+

Description

The demonstration will begin with a brief overview of an integrated automated malware analysis tool targeted for CSIRT/CERT teams and threat hunters developed for one of the Polish LEAs. This introduction will also cover a description of a process for automated VirusShare malware samples analysis and enrichment, allowing to build the machine learning models empowering the aforementioned tool’s analytics engine. The presentation will conclude with a live demo of the above-mentioned system, including a Q&A session.

V4H - Video for Health

12.45 - 13.15 | Demonstration Area

+

Description

This session will demonstrate V4H – Video for Health, a secure video platform for digital health. It consists of a solution for telehealth practice, with interactive and intuitive features for online care in the form of teleconsultation, teleguidance, teleadvisory, and teleinterconsultation, in a fully encrypted enviroment. V4H is designed to be easily integrated with digital health systems such as appointment systems, electronic records, or patient tracking through an API. V4H is the first health digital service provided by RNP (Brazilian NREN) and is already being used by more than 10 health institutions including public, private, and NGO organizations. Part of the V4H user experience was conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic and the solution was essential in maintaining assistance for the patients in these institutions during this period.

Federated Learning Driven Network Traffic Flow Classification

13.20 - 13.50 | Demonstration Area

+

Description

Traffic flow measurement and classification have always played a strategic role in understanding and managing computer networks. The rich information from network measurement data has germinated many machine learning models for network performance studies. Yet, meaningful data sharing is limited mainly owing to the privacy-sensitive nature of much of today's network traffic.
We demonstrate our ongoing research aimed at developing a federated learning driven network traffic flow classification framework, where multiple clients carry out the learning task under the coordination of a server without direct data exchange, enabling privacy-preserving machine learning. The demo covers the spectrum from packet capture through federated learning to flow categorization. We achieve collaborative learning by constructing a multi-class neural network classification model. Then compare its efficiency to traditional learning.
With the presented solution, we aim to streamline the transition of existing machine learning pipelines into a federated learning setup and foster research in the field on a realistic scale to fuel future improvements in flow identification and classification.

Personal profile page for Shibboleth and simpleSAMLphp IdPs

15.30 - 16.00 | Demonstration Area

+

Description

According to the eduGAIN reporting tool, most Identity Providers in our federation rely on either shibboleth or simpleSAMLphp software. Out of the box, neither offers a profile page for users to review their data and past activity at the IdP. While this is not required in the normal workflow, at certain times, like before the termination of an account or at the suspicion of account theft, the availability of such a feature is invaluable. Moreover, an IdP profile page can satisfy an organisation's obligations towards individuals regarding their rights to be informed, access, and port their data. The GÉANT Trust and Identity Incubator have implemented an aesthetically designed personal profile page module for both software that will be on display, along with other Trust and Identity-related advancements by the incubator.
