Getting started with Network Orchestration is a daunting task that requires a lot of forethought and domain knowledge. Join this interactive full-day technical workshop to benefit from ESnet and SURF network and software engineers who have already gone through this process and are ready to share their knowledge. A remote development environment will be provided, you just need to bring a laptop with an SSH client and an IDE (preferably PyCharm or VSCode). The workshop will begin with introductions to product and workflow modeling with The Orchestrator and then move to interactive development sessions, finally ending with an open discussion around tailoring the orchestrator to your use-cases.
For this meeting, there is no need to purchase a TNC23 Side Meeting pass. However, we do ask you to register for this meeting by clicking on the following link: https://events.geant.org/e/FromZeroToOrchestrated
Please note:
This meeting will take place at an external venue:

The trust and identity (T&I) Portfolio in GEANT has expanded over the last four years.
Thanks to eduGAIN that provided a solid foundation, and using the AARC BPA as the reference model, we have deployed eduTEAMS, which has been enhanced during 2022.
Via eduTEAMS we were able to offer identity services to address international use-cases such those of Erasmus+, via MyAcademicID service; those of EuroHPC uses cases, via Fenix AAI; those of Lumi-Puhuri AAI and MyAccessID. During this workshop we would like to provide an update on the work done so far on all these areas.
The workshop will provide an opportunity to also report on the work done to support the Science Clusters to deploy AAI compatible with the AARC BPA and within the EOSC to deploy the EOSC AAI Federation and for the audience to share their thoughts.
During the workshop, we will also look at new areas of interest such as SSI and digital wallets and will present plans and activities that relate to them.
The workshop is open to anybody in the NRENs, universities and research centres that have an interest in these topics or those that are involved in the operations of identity services.

The Cloudy Interoperable Software Stack Special Interest Group is the GÉANT Community body in charge of gathering the community of NRENs Cloud experts and Cloud infrastructure operators around best practices, technological challenges and options to collaborate.
Its focus is on interoperability of software stacks, architectures based on standards, enabling the NRENs to build their Cloud infrastructure for their internal needs and for their supported User Communities.
It keeps the Community together, informed, up to date, and supports synergies on the challenge of providing scalable, cost-effective and user-friendly Cloud infrastructures, integrated through open community standards.
The meeting will be structured in a section of updates on the Cloud from the NRENs (NRENs building Clouds reports), plus talks on selected topics or relevance for the NRENs Cloud Community

The GÉANT Task Force for Educational Activities would like to invite you to a pre-TNC23 Conference workshop focussing on both strategic opportunities and challenges, and sharing knowledge and best practice on practical issues related to the delivery of education, both nationally and globally.
Our annual event for 2023 will be hosted by TF-EDU Steering Committee members, using their experience, individually and collectively, and the knowledge gained from our community sessions over the past years. Our annual events attract a global audience, from NRENs, educational institutions, international organisations, governments and commercial companies.
How to translate NRENs’ educational strategies to implementation plans and not get lost in that translation? Come and hear some of the NRENs experience in developing and implementing their strategic plans for supporting education. How is it similar or different from yours?
We will openly discuss the challenges using commercial services (IaaS or SaaS) as well as the benefits and impacts moving towards procured offerings.
How do you create your ideal educational ecosystem?
We will endeavour to set out the context for these discussions at the outset with an overview of the most recent results from our third ‘Annual Survey on Educational Services and Activities’, looking also at any trends from the earlier surveys and possible early impact of the pandemic, brought to you by Dragana Kupres (CARNET).
The workshop will help TF-EDU develop a forward-looking roadmap to better understand the changes as a community, and for the education sector as a whole.

The Science Mesh, from the CS3MESH4EOSC project, is a federation of distributed but interconnected data storage and sharing services, known as Enterprise File Sync and Share (EFSS) services. Data storage, access and synchronisation services based on cloud platforms from different providers are interoperable on the data exchange, federated data sharing and users’ management level.
The users can easily share and manage data through the familiar interfaces of their institutional EFSS services and collaborate with colleagues from other organisations. The Science Mesh is not specific to any particular research discipline, addressing common needs of a wide array of users (incl. academia and research industries).
In this session, attendees will understand the functionality and technical innovation of the Science Mesh, learn how to join the mesh and become aware how the already-integrated data services have been used to address challenges by real communities.

What impact do R&E Networks have on the environment? Can our joint efforts towards a greener and more sustainable R&E ecosystem generate positive change and help reduce the environmental impact of the whole community? Could we even persuade (larger) commercial vendors to really make a difference by using our collective spending power?
This interactive workshop follows on from the initiative launched in 2022 to establish a 'Procurement in the GÉANT Community' platform. Additionally, it will present an occasion for RENs to share best practices, findings and initiatives in different areas related to sustainability (networking, services, IT, communications, events, etc.).

The goals of this workshop are to update and inform the community on the ongoing activities on eHealth and the European Health Data Space initiative. In the sessions we will present relevant community Use Cases, and we will have open discussions on the opportunities and the challenges we could jointly tackle. The goal is also to identify the possible joint, synergic actions that could ease the onboarding of users to the European Health Data Space, in relation to the key existing community protocols, standards, best practices, AAI and data management services, policies adopted by the user community.
