Welcome to Tirana, the colourful, young and vibrant capital of Albania with a strong tradition for hospitality. TNC23 will be hosted by the Academic Network of Albania – RASH and will take place at the Palace of Congresses in the heart of the city.

Tirana is the cultural, entertainment and political centre of Albania, visit its museums, monuments and parks and admire the view of its unique residential buildings painted in rainbow colours. You are all invited to feel the vibe of Tirana!

THE VENUES

TNC23’s main venue, the Palace of Congresses, is an impressive building that serves as a hub for political, cultural and social events in the Albanian capital. The palace boasts a spacious hall, multiple meeting rooms and a beautiful terrace overlooking the city. Built during the late communist era to host the Congresses of the Albanian Labour Party and other official activities, today the palace is used for conferences, festivals, exhibitions, official ceremonies, concerts and more. It currently has a capacity of 2,100 seats.

Only a three-minute walk away from the Palace of Congresses, the Rogner Hotel will only host selected meetings and presentations in the ‘one track’ room.

GETTING AROUND

By plane

By bus
There are different transnational bus lines that connect Tirana with the rest of Europe. 

By boat 
You can come to Tirana also by Ferry from Bari or Brindissi, Ancona and Trieste Italy to Durres, Albania

By bus
The Rinas Express Bus, as a daily service from the Airport to the city center of Tirana. The bus departs every hour, fixed hours, behind the Palace of Culture. The fee is 400 Lek.(All). For further information: https://luna.al/  

By taxi
The fastest way to get to TIA is by taxi which is accessible in all cities and urban areas. The journey from Tirana International Airport to Tirana’s center takes 20–25 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs about 2500 Leke (20 EUR) one way. Tirana Airport taxi service is provided by Auto Holiday Albania (AHA). AHA specializes in transfers between Tirana Airport and all Albanian cities for both individuals and groups. The service offered is professional and courteous at affordable prices, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To reserve taxis in advance, online please use the website www.tiataxi.al and fill out the form by clicking on the link below to book your transfer now.

Note
We would recommend that passengers use only licensed taxis, which are yellow with the Auto Holiday Albania logo and the airport logo on both sides of the vehicle. At the airport, these taxis park in front of the terminal and also at the pick-up area of the terminal.
If you don’t have Albanian LEK when you arrive, you can exchange the wanted amount in Albanian LEK directly in the airport.
It is better to have CASH with you as the great part of the services can not be paid with cc.

On foot
From the busstop at National Theatre for Opera & Ballet, located in the city centre, it is a 17-minute walk to the venue. 

By car
By car it takes a maximum of 10 minutes. You can park closed to Palace of Congresses: 

  • MAK Tirana Hotel  with a fee of 100 LEK/hour. Upon 2 hours 100 lek/hour
  • Rogner Hotel: 1 -2 hours  – 300 lek. Upon 2 hours 100 lek/hour
  • Public Parking (underground in front of National Stadium): 1-2 hours 200 LEK, 1-8 hours 500 LEK

By public transport
For TNC23 participants only: Use your TNC23 badge to get free bus rides in Tirana (thanks to RASH and the Tirana municipality). Otherwise bus tickets are 40 LEK/person.

From the city centre to the Palace of Congresses: You can take the line L13 “Tirana e re” itinerary as below: Hop off at stop ‘Sheshi Nene Tereza’. From there it is only 120 m walking distance to the main venue. 

HOTELS

TNC23 has reserved room blocks in selected hotels in Tirana. All prices are in Euro per room per night, including breakfast, 6% VAT and 3% city tax.
Reservations will be on a “first come, first served” basis and the hotel deals on offer have a limited time duration.  Please make sure that you are familiar with the cancellation policies as these may be different for each hotel.

Due to limited availability in the TNC23 week, please feel free to use other online resources to find accommodation in Tirana (e.g. Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia etc.).

If the cancellation for the individual reservation (maximum 1 persons) will be done at least 20 days prior to the day of arrival will be charged 30 % of the total amount.
If the cancellation for the individual reservation (maximum 1 persons) will be done at least 10 days prior to the day of arrival will be charged 50 % of the total amount.
If the cancellation for the individual reservation (maximum 1 persons) will be done at least 7 days prior to the day of arrival will be charged 70 % of the total amount.
If the cancellation for the individual reservation (maximum 1 persons) will be done at least 3 days prior to the day of arrival will be charged 100 % of the total amount.
In cases of No Show, the full amount of the accommodation will be charged .
However, the hotel reserves the right to ask for extension of the cancellation deadline due to very busy periods.
